Switched off Series

The orange-coloured Ferris wheel towers above the treetops of the Plänterwald forest and heightens the anticipation of the amusement park. The pastel-coloured gondolas carry guests almost up into the sky, the view over Berlin takes your breath away.

In November 2001, the Ferris wheel takes its last spin, then the Spreepark closes and the gondolas come to rest.
Without official visitors, nature gradually reclaims the area. Plants spread undisturbed, taking over the remaining rides and creating a new place for fun: a lost place.

Every ending harbours a new beginning. Every story, every biography is characterised by change, you can’t escape it. From 2025, a new chapter will be added to the eventful history of the Spreepark as an art and culture park.
