Strolls

The feeling of carefreeness when you allow yourself to wander through an unfamiliar city without focus or a specific goal and simply let the surroundings take effect on you.

In the midst of the clear order of modern urban landscapes, between renovated old buildings and new facades, a gap suddenly opens up. An open space, overgrown, almost forgotten – and behind it: an old industrial building, half hidden, slightly set back, as if it no longer belongs here.

And yet this very spot was once the heart of the neighbourhood. Today it seems like a quiet contrast to the present – powerful, raw and full of stories. For me, it’s more than just a relic: it’s a piece of the puzzle of the future.

I love these old façades. Their patina, the architectural signature, the visible labour of times gone by. And at the same time, I am aware of how easy it is to romanticise this sight – because behind the beauty often lies the hard reality of physical labour.

I preserve these fleeting conditions in my works. The breaks, the traces, the fragments. For me, every work of art becomes a place of memory – but also of change. Because as much as I appreciate the aesthetics of decay, I am convinced that repurposing is the better way on all levels.
